The MCON DECO FLOOR SYSTEM is a decorative solution for external paving, popularly known as “Stamped Concrete.
MCON DECO FLOOR SYSTEM is a type of decorative concrete that is patterned, textured, or embossed to resemble materials such as brick, slate, flagstone, stone, tile, wood, and other patterns and textures. Stamped concrete is commonly used for patios, sidewalks, driveways, pool decks, and interior flooring. Its ability to imitate the appearance of various building materials makes it a cost-effective alternative to using authentic materials like stone, slate, or brick. There are three distinctive procedures in the MCON DECO FLOOR SYSTEM that set it apart from other concrete techniques: the addition of a base color, the incorporation of an accent color, and the use of MCON DECO RELEASE to create a pattern on the concrete surface. These steps result in stamped concrete having a color and shape similar to natural building materials, making it a durable and long-lasting choice compared to paved stone while maintaining its authentic look.
The base color plays a crucial role in stamped concrete. It serves as the primary color and is carefully selected to mimic the shade of the natural building material. Achieving the base color involves incorporating a substance known as color hardener into the concrete mixture. Color hardener is a powdered pigment that is used for dyeing the concrete, giving it the desired hue.
The accent color serves as the secondary color in stamped concrete. This color is employed to create texture and simulate the appearance of additional building materials. The accent color is achieved by applying a substance known as color release onto the concrete surface. Color release has dual functions: it serves as a pigment, imparting color to the concrete, and it acts as a non-adhesive agent, preventing the concrete stamps from sticking to the surface.
The pattern refers to the surface design imprinted on the stamped concrete. This pattern mimics the shape and texture of the natural building material. The pattern is created by pressing a “concrete stamp” onto the freshly poured concrete. Most contemporary concrete stamps are crafted from polyurethane.
After the stamping and release process, the MCON Deco Sealer is applied to the floor. This sealer provides a glossy finish, dustproofing, and resistance to oil spillages.
