MCON 2K EPOXY PRIMER is a two-component, epoxy-based primer suitable for priming concrete/metal surfaces, including walls, prior to the application of any epoxy flooring, epoxy coating and epoxy repair mortar. The resin and hardener, when mixed in the specified ratio, react to form a strong, impenetrable polymer network that has superior chemical resistance, adhesion and mechanical performance.
1. Suitable for structural steel and piping to be exposed to corrosive environments up to very high and immersed.
2. Prevents air release from the porous substrate, which may otherwise cause bubbles in the final epoxy topping later.
3. Seals porous surface to give quality finish.
4. Applied even on damp surfaces between 8 – 10% moisture.
5. Ideal Primer for use with Sealants.
1. Wear hand gloves, safety shoes and safety goggles while using and handling the product.
2. In case eyes or mouth are affected wash with plenty of clean water and seek medical treatment immediately.
12 months from the date of manufacturing when stored in un- opened, original sealed and dry condition at a temperature range from +5°C to 40°C
1. Surface preparation is very important in order to achieve maximum adhesion between the coating and substrate.
2. Free the surface from loose material, grease and oil by grit blasting or water jet. Remove deeper penetrated material by mechanical means. Remove all laitance from the concrete surface, then wash it off. Dry the surface completely.
3. Concrete must be at least 28 days old. Any cement laitance must be removed.
1. Stir container of each component thoroughly for uniformity.
2. For best result, use a variable speed drill mixer with a spiral type blade at the bottom of stirrer rod. The speed may be 400-600 rpm.
3. Mix only sufficient materials for immediate requirements. Leave the mixed material to stand for 2- 3 minutes to enable entrapped air, if any, to escape from the mix and then use as quickly as possible.
4. MCON 2K EPOXY PRIMER by brush / roller on surface.
5. On porous surface MCON 2K EPOXY PRIMER will be absorbed very quickly, leaving characteristic light coloured dry patches. In such cases it is recommended that a second priming coat be applied on these dry areas.
6. This not only helps to ensure good adhesion but also prevents air release from the porous substrate which may cause bubbles in the final epoxy topping later.
