For use over a concrete surface, MCON 2K EPOXY PRIMER is recommended depending on substrate condition to ensure maximum product performance.
MCON EPU FLOOR TOPCOAT is a three component epoxy and PU-based flooring. It is a self-levelling composition at a thickness from 1 mm to 2 mm and provides monolithic, very smooth, non-porus, hard wearing and chemically resistant epoxy polyurethane flooring. It has excellent flexibility & adhesion properties and is available in a number of colours.
For use over a concrete surface, MCON 2K EPOXY PRIMER is recommended depending on substrate condition to ensure maximum product performance.
1. Residual moisture content of the concrete substrate should not exceed 5%.
2. No rising moisture & potential osmosis problems
3. Substrate temperature should be at least 3°C above dew point but not above 50°C
4. Recommended ambient temperature for application is between 10°C – 40°C.
5. Relative Air Humidity (RH) to not exceed beyond 80%
All existing expansion or movement joints should be followed through the new floor surface. Joint sealant & joint geometry should be compatible with the floor type used, intended exposure conditions and likely movement characteristics of the substrate.
1. Easy to apply. Flowable consistency for self leveling application. Creates jointless, easy to clean surface.
2. Non-shrink and hence provides excellent adhesion to many surface including concrete and metal substrate.
3. Excellent resistance to chemicals.
4. Excellent adhesion to properly prepared concrete, mild steel and other substrates.
5. Excellent impact and abrasion resistance.
6. Resistance to aggressive corrosive environment.
7. Excellent inter-coat adhesion over aged/ old epoxy coatings
1. MCON EPU FLOOR TOPCOAT is supplied in 3 pre-weighed packs (Base, Hardener and Aggregate) which are ready for immediate on-site use.
2. Part mixing of these components is not acceptable and will affect both performance and appearance of the finished floor
3. A suitable power driven mixer such as a bucket mixer is recommended for uniform mixing of the screed material.
4. Stir the base and hardener separately. Blend the aggregates in the bag.
5. Mix hardener gradually into the base under continuous stirring.
6. Mix the aggregates into the mixed resin portion uniformly under continuous mechanical agitation.
7. Mix well for 3-4 minutes till the components become homogenous. Apply after induction time and before expiry of pot life.
8. The product may be applied by a serrated/ notch trowel to the required thickness.
9. The entire mixed material should be poured onto the prepared and primed surface and spread slowly and evenly.
10. To ensure proper levelling and appearance avoid overspreading.
11. The laid material should be rolled firmly with a spike roller to ensure compactness and de-aeration of the film.
12. Always wear spike shoes when rolling with spike roller. The rolling should be carried out using a ‘back and forth’ technique along the same path. An overlap of 50% with adjacent paths is recommended.
13. Further light rolling may be required to remove surface imperfections, or for subsequent release of trapped air. This should be done prior to the setting of the product. To avoid roller marks prevent over rolling of the coating.
14. The coverage & levelling would vary significantly based on the nature & levelling of the concrete surface Freshly applied MCON EPU FLOOR TOPCOAT should be protected from damp, condensation and water for atleast 24 hours At low temperatures, the chemical reactions are slowed down; this lengthens the pot life, open time & curing times.
15. High temperatures speed up the chemical reactions thus the time frames mentioned above are shortened accordingly.
1. Skin contact: Immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water.
2. Inhalation: Remove to open air. Seek medical attention.
3. Contact with eyes: Immediately wash under running water with eyelids open for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
4. Ingestion: Rinse mouth thoroughly and drink plenty of water. Seek medical attention.
MCON 3K EPOXY FLOOR TOPCOAT has a shelf life of 12 months if kept in warehouse conditions at 30oC in the original, unopened pack.
1. New concrete or cementitious substrates should have been placed for at least 28days and have a moisture content of less than 5% before application with MCON EPU FLOOR TOPCOAT.
2. Before application, the surface to be coated should be free from loose particles, rust, oils, grease or earlier coatings and should be thoroughly dry.
3. After surface is dry, all repair work like sealing of joints, cracks filling of cavities and crevices should be carried out.
4. The self leveling action is much localized and does not eradicate irregularities of level present in the original substrate. It is most important, therefore, that adequate surface preparation and repair is undertaken prior to application of MCON EPU FLOOR TOPCOAT.
5. Concrete defects such as voids, bug holes, excess porosity, and physical and chemical damage are usually filled or repaired prior to the installation of the F/C system. (Materials such as slurries, mortars, and polymer concrete are used to level, smooth and patch concrete surfaces).
6. The laitance (A thin, weak, brittle layer of cement and aggregate on concrete surface) on in-situ bases and any surface sealer or curing membrane should be entirely removed by suitable mechanized equipment, e.g. shot blasting panning or grinding, to expose cleanly the coarse aggregate.
All surface contamination, e.g. oil, paint and rubber, should be removed and adequate mechanical preparation carried out to achieve a sound and stable surface with exposed coarse aggregate.(Existing floor paints should be removed by mechanical abrasion or contained shot blasting. When clear of all surface contamination, the concrete should be prepared mechanically to remove all laitance and expose a fresh surface). After surface preparation all loose debris and dirt should be removed by vacuum- equipment.
1. MCON EPU FLOOR TOPCOAT is recommended for areas where extremely hygienic, abrasion, chemical spillage could pose the risk of floor erosion and dust free environment is required.
2. Used in clean rooms in pharmaceuticals and food processing industries Packing and storage areas of sugar, fertilizers, chemical & pharmaceutical Industries.
3. Automobile servicing and assembly areas.
4. Nuclear plants, computer and control panel rooms.
5. Industries like aerospace including airport hangers, electric and electronic Industries, picture tube manufacturing plants, textile mills.
6. Computer assembly units & Commercial Buildings.
